June Meeting Update

Well it’s been a while since our June meeting, but you deserve an update anyway! We had a great time knitting and crocheting for the Hebden Bridge Arts Festival Yarnstorming Event, for which Hebden Bridge was adorned in all manner of yarny bunting and woolly buns. Here are some pictures of us getting our sheep on:

And here are some pictures of the Yarnstorm:
Thanks to WI members Amy Leader, Clare Whitworth, and Sarah Mason for the gorgeous pics, and thanks to Helen Baron and Rebecca Yorke for organising the Yarnstorm!
If you’re interested in practicing your knitting and crochet skills, then have a look at The Big Knit. This charity event is run by Innocent Smoothies, who collect little hats to top their smoothie bottles. Each bottle that is sold wearing a hat raises 25p for the charity Age UK. The little hats are quick and easy to make, and we’ll be collecting them at our August and September meetings. We’re hoping to send off a huge load of tiny hats for the October deadline! We’ll have copies of the patterns at the next meeting.
We’re also going to be collecting toiletry items for local woman’s charities – more information on that will be given at the meeting.
We’ll see you on July 18th for our vintage hairstyle lesson! Please arrive early (7pm) if you need to fill out a membership form. If you’re interested in practicing vintage hairstyles or making hair accessories, please bring:
  • Stand up mirror (if you have one)
  • kirby grips
  • comb
  • hairspray
  • flat soft bristle brush
  • scraps of material (if you have any, I’m sure there’ll be spare if not)
  • needle and thread

See you soon!
