Oooh er, get your buns out, missus! (You have to imagine that I did that in a very bad Sid James voice.)
Yes, Monday’s meeting on November 17th at 7.30 is all about the art of sugarcraft. We’re delighted to welcome Mandy Hurd who’s going to teach us how to decorate cupcakes using butter cream and sugarpaste. This is a hands-on meeting, so bring an apron and a rolling pin if you have them. Apparently smaller rolling pins are best. You may also want to bring a box or bag to take your decorated cakes home.
We’re going to provide bought cupcakes but if anyone is willing to make some, they’d be very appreciated as homemade buns would obviously be much tastier. Please drop me a line if you’re able to contribute – we need at least 90 cakes, so any help would be much appreciated!
Visitors are welcome and it’s currently £5 for guests. However November is an excellent time to join our WI. The 2015 membership rate is £36 and paying now will take you up to January 2016, giving you 2 free months. You can also renew now to avoid the queues in January when the subs are due.
Other things this month
Book group is on Monday 24th November at 7.30pm in the Old Gate pub.
There’s no walk planned this month because the weather is getting colder and more unpredictable but we have been doing a lot of cinema trips lately so keep an eye on our Facebook page for details of upcoming trips. Our Facebook group is private and only for paid-up members; it’s a really good reason to join our W.I.
We’re currently knitting and crocheting hats and scarves for our charity, SmartMove. Easy patterns can be found on our Facebook group or on Ravelry. The deadline is January 19th to give you time to get your Christmas crafting done.
ADVANCE WARNING
Monday 15thDecember is our Christmas party and it’s a Jacob’s Joint where we all bring food to share. Plus we’ll be having games and quizzes, so you’ll want to pop that straight into your diary.
