Invite: August’s meeting

Hi everyone,

Gosh, I’m really last minute again! So sorry about that – I’ve been on a really important deadline and it ate my whole life. (Yes, there is life outside the WI!)

Anyway, here we are in August, although you certainly wouldn’t think it from the weather. We had hoped to bring you archery this month but the midges have been so bad at Salem Fields that the archery club thought it best to reschedule for September in an indoors venue. This will be a bonus activity, not the main September meeting and we need to firm up the final details but we’ll get back to you about it asap.

So instead, this month we’ve got Leena Gustovska, who kindly stepped in at the last minute. Leena is a Latvian photographer who has recently moved to Hebden Bridge. She uses photography to tell very personal stories and is interested in using the camera ‘as a mirror in my life’. She will be giving a short slide talk on her work and then we’ll be doing a creative photography exercise.

IMPORTANT NOTE: please bring a camera to the meeting – a phone camera is fine.

We’re back in our usual venue of Hebden Bridge Town Hall for this month’s meeting and the meeting is on Monday 17th August, 7pm for a 7.30 start. Guests are welcome for £3.

ADVANCE NOTICE

1) We might be going on a trip to the WI centennial fair on the weekend of 5th-6th September. Keep an eye on our Facebook group for details.

2) September’s meeting is on Monday 21st September, usual time and venue. It’s a party to celebrate the centenary of the WI, please bring food to share and we’ll provide the drink. It’s also fancy dress, so please dress up in any style from the last hundred years. I thought I’d better tell you now so you’ve got plenty time to find something on EBay or in the charity shops! There will be party games and a prize for the best costume.

Right, I’ve got to dash; hope to see you all on Monday…
