Hi everyone, goodness, it’s a busy month…
First up we have the Rag Market, which is this Saturday 16th April from 11am-4pm in Hebden Bridge Town Hall. We still need volunteers to help run the event, especially in the afternoon so please sign up on Facebook if you’re available.
We also need items for our produce and book stall – we can’t do cake but we can sell items such as jams, chutneys and other preserves; jars of sweets/buttons/ribbon etc; plant cuttings; books; DVDs and CDs and handmade craft items. Please bring your donations to the Town hall between 9:30 and 10:30am on Saturday so we have a full and fascinating stall when we open.
I’ve included the Rag Market flyer below – please forward it to anyone who might be interested. Or you can share our Rag Market Facebook page.
This month’s meeting on Monday 18th April in Hebden Bridge Town Hall. As usual, doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
Incredible Edible Todmorden will be visiting to tell us all about their fascinating project, which has garnered worldwide attention.
To coincide with their visit we’re going to have a seed/plant swap at the meeting. Please bring along any unwanted seeds or plants to swap with other members. We’ll also be launching a sunflower growing competition. If you wish to take part you’ll be able to pick up free seeds & instructions at the meeting.
Visitors are welcome to attend for £4 and of course, it’s free to Hebden Bridge WI members. If you’re a regular, please can you remember to bring your own mug – the town hall provides them but we do sometimes run short.
As a keen gardener, I’m definitely looking forward to this one.
The next WI walk is to Blackstone Edge and reservoirs on Sunday April 24thPlease meet in the public car park at the White House Inn at 10 am.
The walk is 5 and a half miles, with a height gain of 390 feet. The first section is all on the flat but the second section was very boggy recently so hiking boots are essential. More details on our private Facebook group.
There will be a WI outing to see Marguerite on the evening of Sunday 24th April. Meet in the foyer of the Hebden Bridge Picture House at 7.45pm.
Book group is back at the White Lion pub this month. Monday 25th April at 7.30pm. Bring books to review and share.
May is our Annual Meeting and sadly it will be my last as president because I’ve decided to stand down. Although I will be staying on committee for at least another year, so you’re not getting rid of me that easily!
We do have someone waiting in the wings but if you’d like to stand for either the committee or as the new president, we need to know now.
We have at least two slots available for new committee members but there’s room for more. If you’d like to stand, we’ll have nomination forms at this month’s meeting or you can email us at firstname.lastname@example.org You can also nominate another person but only with their permission.
Right, that’s your lot – I hope to see you at some of these events. As always, if you have any questions, just email me.
