Annual meetings can be a little dull (finance report, secretary’s address etc) so this year we tried to shake it up a little bit. We showed slides from our year to remind members of the fun we had, and followed this with some interactive exercises to get all our members and guests thinking about what they love most about HBWI and what kind of things they would like to get up to in the near future.
How would you describe HBWI?
Fun, generous, quirky, friendly, for all ages and cake-loving were popular responses.
Favourite cake of the year?
Unsurprisingly, given our propensity for all things cake, there were a number of contenders including Ruth’s Viennese Whirls and Polly’s Strawberry and Cream Victoria Sponge Cake.
What do you want to do in the future?
Suggestions were fabulous and varied as always, including alcohol-themed evenings (Gin/wine tasting), meditation, fencing, swishing, circus skills and forest school for grown-ups. What an interesting party those activities would make! The committee will be using these ideas to come up with an interesting programme for the next 12 months.
Our new committee!
We now have a new committee, voted in at our annual meeting. Many thanks to Caroline and Isla who stood down after years of service, and Heather who will remain MCS rep. Fliss became the new President, and Kirsty stood down to become Social Media Officer after two years in the hot seat. Libby, Jeni, Sarah and Polly are newly elected. Libby taking on the role of Treasurer, Sarah as Secretary and Jeni in a new Pastoral role. Polly W became Vice President and Karen as Social and Committee Secretary. Ruth is welcoming new members. Many thanks to all those who put themselves forward – committee members and regular helpers – and take time out of their busy schedules to make HBWI what it is:
Fun, Friendly and Generous!
